commonsku Comes Together for Collaboration, Creativity, and Fun!

Data analysts, software architects, customer success experts, UI/UX pros, and marketing and sales leaders descended on the beautiful city of Toronto at commonsku’s HQ for a few days of learning and collaboration.

Prior to the pandemic, the commonsku team was partly virtual, but now the team is 100% virtual, and team members flew in from Pakistan, Kansas City, Virginia, Vancouver, Montreal, and more!

What happens at a commonsku HQ meeting? A celebration of YTD accomplishments, a group-think around challenges, and an ambitious look ahead at next quarter’s goals.

Every quarterly meeting consists of a look back and a look forward. And one of the team’s favorite activities at HQ is to glimpse behind the curtain to see how our fellow staff members drive their day-to-day to produce outcomes for the business. Vicky Yao, Junior Analyst, shared mind-boggling graphs and charts, the details behind the data that powers commonsku. Ally Brunton, Product Marketing Manager, exhibited the diverse and wide-ranging ways in which customers are using commonsku to grow their business, and Bre Redmond, Product Manager, presented on developments launched, as well as a myriad of projects in the pipeline.

And a commonsku gathering wouldn’t be complete without a few group excursions. Night one consisted of dine-arounds at Toronto’s incredible and famously diverse restaurant scene, while dining groups were configured to make sure that developers were sitting across from marketers and salespeople were spending time with designers so that a cross-pollination of culture and ideas ignited even more magic in the future.

Night two (decided by popular vote) was a wild night out at a Toronto Blue Jays game where –in the battle of the birds– the Jays crushed the Orioles (and the night that everyone on the commonsku team became lifelong Guerrero fans)! But the most fun about the baseball experience was just before the game, watching Kate Masewich, commonsku’s VP of Marketing, and Aaron Kucherawy, VP of Customer Success, give the entire company a presentation on “What is baseball and how does it work!?” (Almost 65% of the commonsku team had never seen a baseball game …. how fun is that for a snapshot of diversity?)

“I know every business today is grappling with how to integrate their teams through experiences that bond relationships and create cross-departmental magic, but I have to say that gathering our 30 employees together for a few days, and letting them drive the outcome, is one of the most important ways we can tap into the collective wisdom of our colleagues,” said Mark Graham, commonsku’s Co-Founder and Chief Brand Officer, “the experience amplified the entire team’s passion to help customers be successful through the platform.”
