What is your role at commonsku?

I am part of the Customer Success team! What I love about customer support is developing relationships with our clients. I love talking to people, and I especially love hearing that I’ve been able to help make a client’s day easier.

How did your childhood home or town help shape your worldview and how you think?

I was born and raised in Hamilton, Ontario. The Hammer has always had a reputation for being a bit gritty and edgy, and I will always be the first to defend it. I grew up in a very diverse community which was valuable when preparing to move to Toronto. I love Hamilton. You can hike to a beautiful waterfall (or twelve), find amazing Mexican food (I recommend Mezcal, the tacos are perfection), and take a walk through the vibrant art district in the same day. To see the arts community grow and become a defining part of the city’s identity is definitely a point of hometown pride for me.

Where was the most exciting and enjoyable place that you lived?

I really love Toronto. There’s always something to do, and you can find vastly different communities every few blocks.

Where have you traveled?

I have family spread out through Canada and the States, and I’ve traveled through the Caribbean, Norway, Sweden, Germany, France, the UK, The Canary Islands, and Israel.

What was your favorite trip?

I just did my first solo trip – I backpacked through Scotland for ten days. Totally by myself, which was terrifying (particularly when you lose your backpack and pick up some dysentery along the way) and by far the best travelling experience I’ve ever had. Highly recommend. The trip, not the dysentery.

What hobbies/interests do you have?

I have a background in the arts, so I love seeing live theatre and going to film festivals. I’ve written and created for the Toronto and Hamilton Fringe and still love writing.

Favorite meal?

Sushi, all day every day.

Favorite film?

Back to the Future, followed closely by The Princess Bride.

Favorite book?

Lamb, a Gospel According to Biff by Christopher Moore. I read a lot, and this is the book I can keep coming back to and never get bored. That and the whole Harry Potter series, but that feels like cheating.

What is your favorite boring activity?

Again, I read a LOT. I think I’ve read about 50 books so far in 2019, which is honestly a little lower than usual. I host a book club once a month and it’s the BEST.

What are you typically doing on a Saturday morning?

I’m generally a pretty early riser so I’m usually awake and down the street having my first (there are many) coffee of the day. Then I’ll go to the library to return my very overdue library books, maybe have brunch with my best friend, or go visit family in Hamilton for the weekend.

What’s your latest binge TV or movie series?

I’m a big Star Wars fan, so I’ve been re-watching all the movies (even the prequels, had to be done) before the new Star Wars show airs.

Quirkiest (yet favorite) wardrobe item?

I’m a bit of a vintage clothing addict - my winter coat is about 50 years old and I’m obsessed with it. Half of my wardrobe is older than my parents are.

Best cup of coffee (or tea) in Toronto?

Red Rocket on the Danforth. If you value caffeine the way I do, order the Moon Landing and tell them Erin sent you.
